Programme Overview

Syllabus Outline

The curriculum of the Bachelor of Education (hons) Degree in Primary Education Programme is divided into the following five areas of study: 1. Professional Studies 2. Curriculum Studies 3. Foundations of Learning 4. Optional Elements / Electives 5. Research Professional Development and School Experience

Eligibility Criteria

Three passes at the G.C.E. A/L Examination (Sri Lanka) in any subject stream or an equivalent qualification obtained from a recognized institution approved by the UGC At least a Credit Pass for English at G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) or an equivalent qualification

Programme Structure

The curriculum of the Bachelor of Education Honors in Primary Education Degree meets the requirement of SLQF Level 6. The four-year study program consists of 122 credits including: - Professional and academic studies - Internal teaching practice program - One-year internship program - Research project An academic year consists of two semesters. There are three parallel exits. On successful completion of: - 2nd Year: Higher Diploma in Primary Education - 4th Year: Bachelor of Education Honors in Primary Education
